Social Studies

The Social Studies Department at Foothill High School offers many different courses for students grades 9-12.  Students will have the opportunity to learn about World History, United States History, Government, and Geography.  In addition, the department offers elective courses including Psychology, Sociology, and Leadership.  We offer courses at the Regular, Honors, and AP levels.
Generally, students will take Social Studies courses during their sophomore, junior, and senior years at Foothill.  Recommended seniors can opt to take the "We The People" course as a senior.  This limited course is a citizenship education program focused on teaching the ideas and principles of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and will fulfill the U.S. Government credit required for Graduation.

To meet the criteria to earn a Standard Diploma, students must complete World History or Geography (1 Credit), U.S. History (1 Credit), and U.S. Government (1 Credit).
